What HomeBugShield is

HomeBugShield is an independent consumer-information site for common household pest problems. It is designed to help a normal person move from “I found something” to a sensible next action without getting buried in product marketing.

What it is not

HomeBugShield is not a pest-control company, medical practice, veterinary service or emergency service. We do not claim that an online guide can replace local identification, an on-site inspection or the product label.

How the site is funded

The site is built to support advertising. Advertising, if enabled, does not determine our conclusions or rankings. We do not sell placement inside editorial recommendations. Any future affiliate relationship or sponsorship would be disclosed clearly on the relevant page.

Why there are fewer pages than before

We intentionally prefer a smaller number of useful pages over hundreds of repetitive articles. Old HomeBugShield URLs are redirected only where there is a genuinely relevant replacement. Thin pages are not recreated just to preserve URL count.

The promise

Every indexable page should help with a real decision. We do not create location pages, yearly duplicates or near-identical articles just to increase URL count. If a topic can be answered well on an existing page, it belongs there.

How old content is handled

The previous version of HomeBugShield contained claims that were too broad — including overly confident language around “non-toxic” home remedies and ultrasonic devices. The rebuild intentionally replaces those claims with more cautious, source-backed guidance and redirects useful legacy URLs to the strongest current page.

Primary sources

Key safety and evidence claims on this page are grounded in authoritative public sources. Links open the original guidance.
